Basic Purpose
Support the Branch in effective cash management and ensure all teller cash holdings and ATMs are supported, run, and serviced effectively. Responsible for monitoring cash movements in both physical and general ledgers while adhering to cash limits and 100% compliance to policies and procedures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure 100% compliance with the Bank’s policies and Procedures.

Strong adherence to AML and KYC policy guidelines.
-
Ensure tellers are ready and available for work before the start of the day and have sufficient cash to start the day.

Custodian for reserve and intraday cash safes.
-
Observe branch cash limits and teller cash holding limits.
-
Manage the order and repatriation of cash.
-
Monitor cash movements (physical and GL) for tellers, ATM, intraday, and main reserve, and pass referrals.

Enhance teller productivity per the set KPIs.
-
Ensuring the tellers’ work is thoroughly batch proofed.
-
Ensure the brand is protected (efficient tellers).
-
Monitor ATM replenish levels with clean notes and ensure over 99.9% ATM uptime.

Ensure customer satisfaction levels are over 95% at all times.
-
Maintain up-to-date teller handovers for the keys and boxes, and maintain teller box registers.

Mobilization of deposits and cross-selling of products through effective cash management.
-
Champion of Cash Department training (P&P’s security operations, etc.).

Oversee teller cash confirmation at the end of the day.

Dual Custodian.

Manage filing and archiving of cash records.

Coordinate all back office activities.
-
Preparation of end of year cash certificate.
-
Ensure there are no cash differences reported at the branch, to the Cash Centre/BOT.

Accurate and timely reporting of differences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Qualification
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Knowledge Requirements
-
Strong understanding of cash handling procedures and cash management standards.
-
Knowledge of banking operations, branch processes, and teller functions.
-
Familiarity with core banking systems and transaction processing tools.
-
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, including KYC, AML/CFT, and fraud prevention.
-
Understanding of cash reconciliation, vault management, and balancing procedures.
-
Knowledge of currency authentication (detecting counterfeit notes).
-
Basic understanding of banking products and services (savings, current accounts, deposits, loans).
Skills Requirements

High accuracy and attention to detail in handling cash transactions.
-
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
-
Ability to perform account reconciliations, cash balancing, and end-of-day reporting.
-
Proficiency in using teller systems, cash counters, and other banking equipment.

Ability to identify and flag unusual or suspicious transactions.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.
-
Strong integrity and ethical conduct with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Good problem-solving capabilities, especially in resolving transactional issues.

Team player with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Strong organizational and time management skills.
Experience Requirements
-
1-3 years’ experience as a Teller, Cashier, Cash Officer, or similar role in a banking or financial institution.
-
Experience in cash handling, balancing, and reconciliation.
-
Experience working in branch operations or customer-facing banking roles.
-
Prior exposure to customer service and transaction processing.
-
Experience handling high-volume cash operations is an added advantage.
