About Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation (ZMBF)
ZMBF is a Non-Governmental Organization founded in 2021 by H.E. Mariam H. Mwinyi, the First Lady of Zanzibar. The foundation focuses on socioeconomic development, public health, and the elimination of gender-based violence, specifically targeting women, youth, and children in Zanzibar.
Current Vacancies (December 2025)
1. Socio-Enterprise Manager

Location: Head Office – Zanzibar
-
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
-
Purpose: Leads income-generating initiatives, specifically the Seaweed Program and the Reusable Sanitary Pads project.
-
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design and implement socio-enterprise models.
-
Develop market linkages and identify private sector partners.
-
Manage budgets and track profitability for social impact.
-
Build community capacity in entrepreneurship and quality control.
-

Requirements:
-
Master’s in MBA, Social Enterprise, Marine Science, or related field.
-
5+ years of experience in managing social enterprises or SMEs.
-
Knowledge of value chain development and the blue economy.

2. Technical Programs Manager
-
Location: Head Office – Zanzibar
-
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
-
Purpose: Provides strategic leadership for program portfolios including Nutrition, Reproductive Health, and Socioeconomic Development.
-
Key Responsibilities:
-
Integrate climate resilience, digitalization, and cultural heritage into programs.
-
Lead grant proposal writing and resource mobilization.
-
Oversee program monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance.
-
Represent ZMBF in national and regional forums.
-

Requirements:
-
Master’s in Public Health, Development Studies, Marine Science, or MBA.
-
3–5 years of program management experience.
-
Experience in the blue economy and community livelihood programs.
-
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer
-
Location: Head Office – Zanzibar
-
Reports to: Strategic Information Manager
-
Purpose: Supports project implementation through data management and performance tracking.
-
Key Responsibilities:
-
Develop monitoring tools and collect field data (Seaweed/SRH production).
-
Maintain databases and produce monthly/quarterly reports.
-
Document success stories and facilitate learning sessions.
-
Train community leaders on data collection tools.
-

Requirements:
-
Degree/Diploma in M&E, Statistics, or Social Sciences.
-
2–3 years of experience in MEL.
-
Proficiency in KoboCollect, ODK, or MS Excel.
-
4. Communication Officer
-
Location: Head Office – Zanzibar
-
Reports to: Strategic Information Manager
-
Purpose: Enhances visibility and documents project impact through storytelling and multimedia.
-
Key Responsibilities:
-
Develop human-interest stories and case studies.
-
Manage social media platforms (FB, IG, LinkedIn, X).
-
Produce multimedia content (photos, videos, infographics).
-
Liaise with media houses and journalists.
-
-
Requirements:
-
Degree/Diploma in Journalism, PR, or Marketing.
-
2–3 years of experience in communications.
-
Skills in Adobe Creative Suite or Final Cut.
-
5. Procurement Officer
-
Location: Head Office – Zanzibar
-
Reports to: Finance and Grants Manager
-
Purpose: Manages the acquisition of goods and services in compliance with donor and organizational policies.
-
Key Responsibilities:
-
Prepare RFQs, RFPs, and tender documents.
-
Maintain a vendor database and conduct market surveys.
-
Manage contracts and track deliverables.
-
Ensure audit-ready documentation and risk mitigation.
-

Requirements:
-
Degree/Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Finance.
-
2–3 years of experience in NGO procurement.
-
Professional certification (PSPTB/CIPS) is an advantage.
