Mwamba Mining Limited is a Tanzanian gold mining and mineral processing company founded in 2018 that is dedicated to professionalizing the Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) sector. Based in Mwanza, the company operates a “mine-to-market” model that provides local miners with an alternative to hazardous mercury-based processing. By utilizing industrial-scale Carbon-in-Pulp (CIP) facilities, such as their flagship Buziba plant in the Geita District, Mwamba can recover over 90% of gold from ore—more than double the yield of traditional methods. To ensure transparency and traceability, Mwamba developed “WAZI,” a digital blockchain-powered platform that manages ore transactions and payments via M-Pesa.
