Key Responsibilities

Ensure all ammonia refrigeration plants operate safely at all times.
Record and monitor plant parameters on an hourly basis.
Ensure no deviation from approved operating parameters.
Manage hydrocarbons for refrigeration plants and compressor operations.
Ensure delivery of cooled air to underground operations to support health and productivity.
Monitor compressors and record operational parameters hourly.
Carry out chemical dosing for plant cooling systems.
Maintain correct chemical levels (ammonia, nitrogen, and water treatment).
Prepare and submit daily operational reports as required by management.
Ensure compliance with mining regulations regarding statutory inspections and equipment certification.
Conduct inspections and ensure equipment safety certificates are valid.
Assist in incident and accident investigations.
Comply with Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Shaft Maintenance Supervisor.
Safeguard company assets by monitoring, reporting, and acting on any misuse or loss in accordance with procedures.
Top up ammonia and inspect for leaks using a sulphur stick.
Clean cooling tower dams and BAC units; conduct quarterly inspections.
Manage planned maintenance parameters, analyze planned and unplanned maintenance results, report deviations, and implement corrective actions in line with Zero Harm standards.
Inspect, dose chemicals, and clean ZH and GA compressor cooling towers.
Assist the maintenance team with work related to refrigeration plants, compressors, and main ventilation fans.
Monitor main ventilation fans and report faults to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Perform oil top-up or draining as required.
Maintain good housekeeping in all plant and compressor areas.
Inspect eyewash stations at refrigeration and compressor plants.
Ensure all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemicals used are current and available.
Ensure bund walls are in good condition and all chemicals are stored correctly within bunded areas.

Qualification Requirements

Advanced secondary education (Form Six or above)
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications

Experience Requirements

Underground mining experience (minimum 3 years) is an added advantage
PLC knowledge is an added advantage

Excellent troubleshooting skills
Strong chemical handling and safety awareness
Thorough knowledge of ammonia refrigeration plant operations
Good communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili
Processing plant operation skills
Compressor operation skills
Environmental awareness
