Key Outputs

1. Financial Management

  • Ensure correct authorization and allocation of business expenditure
  • Demonstrate independent judgment by questioning the necessity, value, and market reasonableness of proposed expenditures
  • Ensure timely and accurate daily recording of transactions (PanStrat and/or manual systems)
  • Prepare supplier payment requests
  • Interpret and analyze management accounts
  • Assist with payroll preparation and reconciliations
  • Collate and resolve general ledger queries
  • Resolve balance sheet reconciliation queries
  • Manage and update stock sheets

2. Reporting

  • Meet all non-negotiable finance deadlines
  • Provide timely feedback on management accounts to the Regional Finance Manager
  • Drive monthly finance meetings to discuss financial performance and communicate outcomes to the Regional Finance Manager
  • Oversee and assist with the preparation of budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Assist Lodge Managers and Directors with financial queries
  • Support year-end audit processes
  • Reconcile clearing accounts and inter-lodge transactions
  • Manage and supervise reporting functions to ensure compliance with Accounting Officer output requirements

3. Internal Control Environment & Safeguarding of Assets

  • Maintain and enforce stock control procedures
  • Actively assist with month-end stock takes
  • Monitor, update, and document internal control procedures
  • Conduct internal audits and spot checks where required
  • Apply professional skepticism in daily operations
  • Investigate and follow up on actual or suspected financial losses
  • Immediately report any known or suspected internal control breaches
  • Ensure company assets are properly recorded, safeguarded, and responsibly managed
  • Take full responsibility for petty cash, mobile wallets, and company bank accounts
  • Perform regular audits on safari shop systems and processes
  • Ensure accurate and complete financial documentation is maintained

4. Training & Support

  • Assist staff with PanStrat system usage
  • Train lodge staff on basic accounting principles
  • Review and train Front of House staff on financial systems

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
    (Preference given to candidates with CPA qualification or active CPA progression)
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ practical experience in accounting or finance
    (Hospitality, lodge, or operational environment preferred)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and transactional accounting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with PanStrat or similar hospitality accounting systems is an added advantage
  • Fluent in English and Swahili (spoken and written)
