Job Overview
The Business Analyst – Data Governance plays a key role in strengthening data practices across the organization by:
- Improving data quality, integrity, and trust
- Supporting and optimizing business data processes
- Bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams
This role ensures that data is effectively created, managed, and used throughout its lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve business data processes
- Support implementation of data governance frameworks
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across systems
- Act as a liaison between:
- Business stakeholders
- Technical teams
- Translate business needs into clear data and technical requirements
- Conduct root cause analysis of data issues
- Identify and address process inefficiencies
- Map and document workflows using:
- Data flow diagrams
- Process maps
- Swimlane diagrams
- Align stakeholders on:
- Data definitions
- Standards
- Governance practices
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Business Analysis
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Or a related field
- Equivalent work experience may be considered
Professional Certifications (Advantage)
- Certification in Information Management
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional)
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in:
- Business process analysis
- Understanding system and data flows
- Hands-on experience in:
- Root cause analysis of data issues
- Identifying process gaps
- Strong knowledge of Data Governance principles, including:
- Data quality rules
- Metadata management
- Data stewardship
- Standards and policies
- Experience documenting processes using structured diagrams
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to:
- Identify patterns and inconsistencies
- Recommend improvements
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Ability to:
- Gather and document requirements
- Translate them into technical specifications
- Excellent communication skills:
- Technical and non-technical audiences
