Position Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements and Barrick health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated in accordance with procedures and timelines.
- Participate in the Management of Change process and implementation of technical initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, standards, and policies during task execution.
- Ensure the maintenance team and associated contractors have appropriate systems, procedures, work practices, and equipment to work safely.
Core Functions
- Assess current and future project structures.
- Evaluate existing contract management structures and processes.
- Compile project execution plans outlining current and future requirements with defined timelines.
- Develop solutions to engineering problems that meet or exceed project requirements.
- Manage consultants and technical specialists.
- Lead projects in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Provide technical interface with equipment suppliers and contractors.
- Perform activity and resource planning.
- Prepare scopes of work for multidisciplinary project tasks.
- Work with department managers to develop project plans, budgets, and schedules.
- Manage project cost, schedule, and quality control functions.
- Participate in project risk analysis and development of risk management plans.
- Provide technical assistance and mentorship to team members.
- Plan and execute assigned technical projects with the projects team.
- Prepare and submit project reports.
- Coordinate and supervise project installations, commissioning, and testing.
- Develop and maintain job records databases, ensuring data integrity.
- Ensure purchase requisitions are raised accurately and on time.
- Ensure technical integrity and consistency of design outputs.
- Manage QA/QC functions.
- Ensure effective change management and operational readiness.
- Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly departmental reports are accurate, timely, and complete.
- Ensure procedural compliance and strong corporate governance.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- Project Management certification (advantageous).
- Registration with an internationally recognized Professional Engineering Council (advantageous).
- Strong numerical and financial management skills.
Experience & Skills Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience, with at least 5 years in a Project Management role.
- High proficiency in project management principles, methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Experience managing large-scale multidisciplinary projects valued at USD 10 million or more.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, civil, and instrumentation systems.
- Proven experience developing project schedules using MS Project or equivalent tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining professionalism.
- Experience in process plants, paste backfill plants, pump stations, and other fixed plant construction.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across diverse cultures and organizational levels.
- Mining industry experience is an added advantage.
