Position: Forklift Operator

Purpose of the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to safely and efficiently load, unload, and stack materials, while maintaining high standards in:
- Inventory and materials management
- Governance and compliance
- Customer service
- Production support
Key Responsibilities
1. Effective Fleet Management
- Conduct pre-trip inspections using a forklift checklist
- Operate, clean, and maintain the forklift in optimal condition
- Ensure fuel and fluid levels meet operating standards
2. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Comply with Department of Labour stacking regulations
- Maintain 5S and site housekeeping standards
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Adhere to all relevant SOPs and GOPs
3. Stock Quality & Inventory Management
- Apply FEFO (First Expired, First Out) stock rotation principles
- Perform quality checks on packaging before loading
- Maintain inventory accuracy in line with governance policies
- Participate in shift handovers
- Conduct daily stock counts using handheld devices
- Generate variance reports and resolve discrepancies
4. Warehouse Operations
- Ensure accurate loading and unloading of vehicles
- Verify quantities using load summaries
- Record returns accurately before unloading
- Manage stock movement between production lines and storage
- Perform bin sign-offs for inventory reconciliation
5. Production & Logistics Support
- Maintain clear communication with logistics and warehouse teams
- Complete all documentation accurately
- Ensure production continuity
- Load raw materials and empties onto production lines
- Remove and stack finished products efficiently
Key Competencies & Attributes
- Experience operating a double handler forklift
- Computer literacy (digital stock-count devices advantageous)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good numerical and self-management skills
- Adaptability and willingness to embrace change
- Alignment with company values
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid Forklift Driver License
