The Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) is an apex private sector, member-based organization mandated to develop and promote the horticultural value chain in Tanzania, including flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, and seeds.

Position Information
- Job Title: Chief Development Manager
- Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
- Duty Station: Arusha
- Role Purpose:
To drive organizational growth, strategic initiatives, and long-term development of TAHA through effective strategy execution, partnerships, business expansion, and institutional development.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Provide overall strategic direction for TAHA’s development portfolio.
- Translate corporate strategy into clear priorities, plans, and measurable results.
Management & Accountability
- Lead and oversee technical departments, including Programs, Operations, Trade and Investment, MEAL, and related functions.
- Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring accountability, efficiency, and compliance.
Financial Stewardship
- Ensure financial sustainability and value for money across development initiatives.
- Oversee compliance with donor, regulatory, and organizational financial requirements.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead high-level engagement with development partners, private sector stakeholders, and government institutions.
- Strengthen strategic alliances to support sector growth and resource mobilization.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure development operations meet donor, legal, and organizational standards.
- Identify and manage strategic, operational, and institutional risks.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Agriculture, International Development, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience in trade and agribusiness development, private sector-led development, or membership-based associations.
- Proven track record in:
- Strategic leadership
- Institutional management
- Resource mobilization
Core Competencies
- Strong partnership development and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with corporate governance structures.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
