The Aga Khan Education Services in Tanzania (AKES, T) operates three schools, from nursery to secondary levels. Each school aims to provide quality education that imparts a broad set of personal and intellectual skills which develop independent inquiry and critical thinking abilities.
Our Heritage
The origins of the Aga Khan schools in Tanzania go back to the 19th century when a girls’ school was started around 1905 in Zanzibar by Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah Aga Khan III.

Position Summary
The Communication and Marketing Officer will assist AKES, T with all communication activities, including internal and external strategies. This encompasses devising communication plans, responding to enquiries, creating content, briefing vendors, and overseeing the production and dissemination of marketing collaterals.
The ideal candidate should be a creative thinker and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Strategy Development
- Develop and implement a marketing plan to increase awareness of the school’s mission, programs, and activities
- Develop and implement effective communications strategies tailored to target audiences
- Conduct market research to identify opportunities for school promotions and branding efforts
Internal Communications
- Handle internal communications, ensuring timely, accurate, and clear messages across the school community
Public Relations & Content Creation
- Manage the school’s public relations efforts by preparing:
- Press releases
- Website content
- Internal reports
- Speeches
- Marketing materials highlighting school activities and success stories
Digital Engagement & Community Management
- Coordinate school newsletter, blog, and social media platforms for regular engagement with school stakeholders, parents, staff, students, and alumni
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field
Experience
- 3 to 4 years of relevant marketing experience, preferably in education or related sectors
Communication Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating engaging and persuasive content
- Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud
Digital & Technical Skills
- Familiarity with digital platforms (social media, email marketing, CMS)
- Skills in article writing, graphic design, and video editing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic graphic tools
- Experience updating/producing content (spotlights, stories, alerts)
Analytical Skills
- Ability to track analytics, evaluate campaign performance, and provide data-driven recommendations
