An exciting opportunity exists for a Direct Transport Sales (DTS) Team Lead to join Maersk’s team in Tanzania.

The DTS Team Lead will support the Area DTS Manager in setting direction for the country/regional DTS team and translating strategy into disciplined commercial execution. The role focuses on day-to-day sales leadership, coaching, pipeline management, and performance oversight to deliver profitable growth and excellent customer outcomes.

The position plays a key role in aligning customer needs with Maersk’s global shipping and logistics services, directly impacting customers’ supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Direction

  • Collaborate with the DTS Manager to translate regional strategy into clear team plans and individual responsibilities.
  • Coach the team to improve:
    • Client relationships
    • Lead targeting
    • Administrative efficiency
    • Interdepartmental collaboration
  • Identify skills gaps and implement development plans.
  • Promote pipeline discipline, customer focus, and target achievement.
  • Build strong team spirit across local and regional DTS teams.

2. Commercial Execution & Pipeline Management

  • Maintain healthy sales pipelines and conduct regular win/loss reviews.
  • Implement strategic sales approaches to achieve revenue targets.
  • Drive New Store Sales acquisition aligned with regional targets.
  • Develop focused strategies to convert prospects into active customers.

3. Customer Leadership

  • Ensure customer-centric engagement in all interactions.
  • Champion excellent customer experience.
  • Build strong relationships within the local logistics ecosystem.
  • Manage customer expectations using internal resources and expertise.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with internal departments to deliver customer solutions, including:

  • Product teams
  • Operations
  • Procurement
  • Finance
  • Customer Experience (CX)

5. Performance Management & Governance

  • Maintain high-quality CRM data and reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with company protocols and sales governance.
  • Monitor and manage team performance against targets.

Who We Are Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Business
    • Logistics
    • Supply Chain
    • Or a related field

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in B2B logistics or transportation sales
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience
  • Proven ability to convert leads into business opportunities
  • Strong CRM and data-driven sales management skills
