1. JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY & AGRICULTURE OFFICER (1 POST)

Location: Singida Gold Mine, Singida Region, Tanzania

Work Schedule: 6 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off

Duration: Open-Ended Contract

Reporting to: Community and Social Responsibility Superintendent

Scope of Role:

The Community & Agriculture Officer will support the development and delivery of community relations and agricultural programs at Singida Gold Mine. The role involves engaging with local communities and stakeholders, addressing potential issues proactively, and helping to ensure programs are delivered effectively and within budget. The officer will also track progress, provide updates and recommendations, and contribute to building strong, sustainable relationships with communities while supporting Shanta Mining Company Limited’s social responsibility goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all work aligns with Shanta Gold Community Relations and Sustainable Development guidelines.
• Assist in developing and implementing community plans, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of community relations activities and identify areas for improvement.
• Proactively identify potentially contentious community issues, provide advice on management, and escalate to the manager as appropriate.
• Provide information to the community, staff, and other stakeholders on program and activity progress.
• Liaise with external stakeholders at Regional and District levels.
• Track project communication activities, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports on all Community Relations projects.
• Ensure compliance with the Community Relations budget.
• Identify staff training needs and initiate the training process in coordination with the CR Superintendent.
• Implement community engagement strategies and advise the CR Superintendent on appropriate approaches to community relations issues.
• Oversee all agriculture programs sponsored by Shanta within the community.

Qualifications & Experience

• Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Community Development, or related field, with PR, Advertising, Journalism, English, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in community relations, communications, or NGO/community development projects.
• Experience in developing and implementing community liaison strategies.
• Proven ability to manage community issues for corporate or community development projects.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Good understanding of national and international community relations standards.
• Ability to prepare departmental reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

2. JOB TITLE: OPEN PIT SUPERVISOR (1 POST)

Location: Singida Gold Mine, Singida Region, Tanzania

Work Schedule: 6 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off

Duration: Open-Ended Contract

Reporting to: Senior Open Pit Supervisor

Scope of Role The Open Pit Supervisor will assist the Senior Supervisor – Production by coordinating and supervising all load and haul operations in accordance with the daily mining plan, ensuring safety, productivity, and optimal equipment utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all Health, Safety & Environmental policies and Tanzanian mining regulations.
• Report incidents immediately to the Head of Department.
• Ensure projects are executed on schedule, within budget, and to agreed technical specifications.
• Inspect project sites regularly to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design, safety, and environmental standards.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate safety shares to the team.
• Manage subordinates’ performance, leave schedules, and resolve personal issues where possible.
• Ensure optimal utilization and availability of mining equipment, and coordinate scheduled servicing and breakdown maintenance with HME mechanics.
• Ensure required tools are available before shift commencement.
• Collaborate with Drill & Blast, Dewatering, Survey, Geotechnical, and other production support teams.
• Supervise daily plan execution to achieve production targets while preventing ore losses and dilution.
• Monitor and minimize unnecessary equipment idling; promote safe operation to avoid abuse.
• Maintain high operational standards and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
• Communicate clearly during shift changes, hand over outstanding tasks, and report all damages promptly, taking accountability for assigned equipment and resources.
• Report machine performance against the daily plan and recommend improvements.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Supervisor or Head of Department.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Certificate of Secondary Education (O/Level).
• Valid Tanzanian Driving License.
• At least 5 years’ proven mining experience in open pit operations.
• Proven competency in at least three open pit primary mining equipment, such as:
  • Excavator
  • Dozer (D10 & D10T)
  • Grader (16H & 16M)
  • Truck (CAT 777D, MT4400, CAT 785C)
