GGML invites applications from ambitious, energetic, and performance-driven individuals to fill the position of ERT Specialist.
Objective of the Role
To lead and strengthen emergency preparedness and response capabilities by developing and executing a robust Emergency Response Program that ensures the safety of people, protection of assets, and continuity of operations in line with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Response & Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response and rescue plans
- Coordinate emergency incidents, drills, and crisis management activities
- Support medical evacuations and site-wide emergency coordination
- Facilitate simulation exercises for high-risk scenarios (fire, collapse, hazardous spills)
Team Leadership & Training
- Train, mentor, and maintain competency of Emergency Response Team members
- Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
Equipment & Facility Management
- Ensure readiness and compliance of fire, rescue, and safety equipment
- Maintain emergency response facilities including control rooms and rescue stations
Compliance & Risk Management
- Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and safety awareness sessions
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards
- Coordinate mutual aid agreements with external emergency services
Incident Management & Reporting
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Maintain reporting, documentation, and performance monitoring systems
- Track and evaluate emergency response KPIs
Operational Support
- Oversee contractor emergency preparedness
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning
- Provide technical advice on fire protection systems and emergency infrastructure
Role Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Qualification in an Emergency Services discipline (Senior Fire Fighter level or equivalent)
- Compliance with Mining Safety Regulations (2010), Part IV – Regulation 49
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- NOSHC certification
- Certificate III in Mine Rescue
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mining (open pit and underground rescue operations)
- Advanced skills in:
- Firefighting and rescue operations
- Rope, confined space, and water rescue
- Proficiency in:
- SCBA and firefighting equipment use and maintenance
- Emergency drill planning and execution
- Incident reporting and investigation
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal in English)
- Computer literacy (MS Office and emergency management systems)
