Project Overview
The Reaching Impact, Saturation and Epidemic Control (RISE) Project is funded by the U.S. Department of State (DoS) to support malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, and monitoring and evaluation activities across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
The project is implemented in close collaboration with:
- National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP)
- Zanzibar Malaria Elimination Programme (ZAMEP)
- Regional Administration and Local Government (RALG)
RISE strengthens alignment with national malaria strategies, improves service delivery quality, and enhances health system performance and resilience.
Implementation Context
The current implementation period (December 2025 – September 2026) requires intensive, time-bound, multi-region field execution, supported by:
- Strong implementation management
- Effective stakeholder coordination
- Consistent operational and technical follow-through
Position Title
Field Team Leader (FTL)
Program: RISE Tanzania Malaria Program
Job Type: Full-time
Position Summary
The Field Team Leader (FTL) provides overall coordination, administrative oversight, and management of field operations for the RISE Tanzania Malaria Program within assigned regions across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
The FTL ensures that field team members are effectively supervised, coordinated, and supported to deliver approved malaria interventions, including:
- Malaria prevention
- Malaria case management
- Vector control
- Surveillance
- Community engagement activities
Reporting & Coordination
- Reports to: Senior Manager
The FTL works closely with technical, operational, M&E, program, and government health management teams to ensure alignment with regional and local government structures, support partner coordination, and drive achievement of regional performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day field operations across assigned regions
- Supervise, mentor, and support multidisciplinary field teams
- Translate approved work plans into coordinated regional implementation
- Track progress against targets and address operational bottlenecks
- Ensure quality and timely delivery of malaria prevention, treatment, and surveillance activities
- Strengthen coordination with regional, council, and partner stakeholders
- Support planning, monitoring, and reporting of field activities
- Uphold and model Jhpiego’s Culture of Respect, ethics, safeguarding standards, and organizational values
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and written communication skills in English
- Fluency in Kiswahili is required
- Demonstrated experience translating work plans into effective regional implementation
- Proven ability to track implementation progress and resolve operational challenges
- Strong leadership, coordination, and team management skills
