Job Title: Field Technician
Reporting Line Manager: Regional Operational Lead

Northern Engineering Works Ltd (NEWL) is seeking a dedicated Field Technician to join our dynamic Operations team. Successful candidates for this position will carry out standardized Site Preventive & Corrective Maintenance and Generator Service as per the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to Standard Day Requirements
- Attend Daily Cluster Meetings and any other as per requirements
- Follow Site Access Procedures
- Execute Site Preventive Maintenance as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Proper maintenance of Client’s & NEWL Assets
- Ensure 100% DC Power Availability on assigned sites
- Attend callouts within ETR time
- Ensure all assigned sites are visible at NOC
- Ensure all assigned Site Work Orders (SWO) are closed within SLA time
- Ensure all alarms are properly terminated and configured at sites
- Ensure Diesel Generators (DGs) are maintained as per manufacturer’s recommendations
- Ensure Air Conditioner Units are properly maintained as per SLA
- Ensure high data integrity on ServiceNow
- Conduct site earth measurement
- Attend scheduled trainings
- Maintain assigned portable DG
- Ensure portable rectifier is properly kept at GMT
- Submit detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for corrective maintenance tasks
- Maintain sites & company assets with high level of integrity
- Maintain partnership with client
- Ensure site fire extinguishers are properly maintained as per SLA
- Ensure all RMS are communicating
- Ensure Fuel Delivery Work Orders (FDWO) & LUKU are closed as per SLA
- Ensure Preventive Maintenance (PM) is completed as per plan
- Ensure SLA spares and consignment stock are properly handled
- Ensure GMT Store is well maintained
- Request replenishment of SLA spares daily (maintain maximum level)
- Train and mentor field trainees
- Timely request of skill set uplifting
- Perform any other task assigned necessary for successful job delivery
SHEQ Responsibilities
- Ensure SHEQ compliance on all tasks
- Report identified near misses, hazards and SHEQ non-conformities to NEWL SHEQ Manager
- Report at least 5 near misses and 1 hazard every month
- Ensure no planned work is undertaken without Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA)
- Report any incident/property damage within 24 hours
- Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ensure Journey Management Plan is filled when driving more than 150 km or 3 hours
- Ensure proper waste disposal
- Conduct daily vehicle inspection
- Attend mandatory OSHA medical examination
- Timely reporting of accidents
- Cooperate with SHEQ team during incident and accident investigations
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- At least 5 years experience in the telecommunications industry
- EWURA Registered
- ERB Registered
- Driving skills required
Skills / Abilities / Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong IT skills (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, Project Management reporting tools)
- Proactive, innovative, and assertive
- Ability to manage tasks independently
- Ability to learn quickly
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining excellent customer service
- Valid driver’s license with clean record
- Familiarity with installation procedures for power infrastructure at BTS sites
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given instructions and standard practices
- Ability to travel to various field locations
