Since 2022, the company has achieved over 4 million battery swaps, providing clean energy access to approximately 225,000 people. Jaza employs local women, known as Jaza Stars, to run these services, empowering them to become leaders and entrepreneurs within their communities.

Position Overview

The Field Technician owns technical operations and issues for an assigned cohort. The primary responsibility is maintaining reliable technical operations at Hubs within the region to ensure maximum Hub uptime.

Key Accountabilities

Energy Uptime: Manage energy uptime in the cluster to a minimum of 99.9% through proactive planning and system monitoring.
Pack Health: Maintain a 98% pack health rate by ensuring defective packs are promptly units diagnosed and repaired.

Responsibilities

Technical Monitoring and Maintenance

Constantly monitor Hub energy to prevent downtime and “danger zone” periods.
Diagnose and repair defective packs to ensure less than 2% of regional inventory is defective.
Perform routine maintenance on Hub energy systems and ensure consistent connectivity.
Monitor Swap% and PV% metrics, escalating any Hubs that exceed 80%.
Travel to Hub locations to resolve issues requiring in-person troubleshooting and repairs.

Deployment and Documentation

Complete Hub commissioning and testing, providing final sign-off for “go-live” status.
Set up Hub phones and controllers while maintaining accurate data records in the dashboard.
File, update, and escalate technical issues accurately using GitLab.
Maintain precise inventory records of Hub equipment, product components, and defective items.

Testing and Growth

Remotely troubleshoot and resolve performance issues to minimize travel time.
Review technical reports to identify trends or recurring problems.
Test and troubleshoot defective products and evaluate new products or firmware as required.
Utilize the Jaza Tech Handbook to maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving technologies and role requirements.

Qualifications

Educational Background: Diploma or Degree in Renewable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Experience: Prior experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic devices or systems is highly desirable.
Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with diagnostic tools, software, and data analysis applications for effective monitoring.
Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze technical problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Communication: Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills for reporting and documentation.
Professional Attributes: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment, and collaborate effectively with a team.
