Job Opportunity: Field Study Assistant (Clinical Research – Community Follow-Up)
1. Job Summary
The Field Study Assistant is responsible for community-based follow-up of study participants, ensuring accurate data collection, participant wellbeing monitoring, and compliance with clinical research protocols including Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Community Follow-Up & Participant Monitoring
- Conduct follow-up visits in the community to assess participant wellbeing after administration of investigational products
- Work closely with study clinicians at health facilities
- Maintain positive relationships with participants, MOH staff, partners, and the community
B. Data Collection & Documentation
- Accurately document adverse events in electronic case report forms during home visits
- Assist with data entry and response to data queries
- Assist in processing and maintaining study documents
- Support scheduling of participant appointments
- Write brief reports and maintain accurate records
C. Clinical & Field Support
- Assist in taking vital signs and anthropometric measurements
- Clean and maintain equipment used for data collection
- Support miscellaneous study activities including training, weekly reporting, and field operations
- Communicate regularly with the Field Coordinator and Study Manager regarding field issues
D. Participant & Study Management
- Ensure participants are reimbursed according to study protocol
- Safeguard study supplies and equipment in the field
- Participate actively in field briefings and team meetings
- Share progress updates with the study team
E. Compliance & Professional Conduct
- Adhere strictly to ICH-GCP (Good Clinical Practice) guidelines
- Maintain confidentiality, honesty, punctuality, and professionalism at all times
- Be flexible to work weekends and public holidays when required
- Perform any additional duties assigned by supervisors

4. Qualifications
Essential Qualification
- Minimum of Secondary School Education
5. Experience Requirements
- Experience in blood sample collection is an added advantage
- Experience working with infants is an advantage
- Prior experience in a research environment is highly desirable
6. Language Requirements
- Good command of English and Kiswahili (spoken and written)
- Ability to write brief reports and maintain records
