Job Overview: Finance Coordinator

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Administration (65%)
-
Verification: Review all payment documents (cheque requests, activity notes, PRFs) for accuracy, authorization, and compliance before processing.

Cash Flow: Collaborate with project teams to prepare monthly spending projections and fund requests to ensure liquidity for suppliers and beneficiaries.

Bookkeeping: Post weekly payment and journal vouchers into the accounting system; perform monthly bank reconciliations.

Asset Management: Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, inventory lists, and monitor fuel analysis reports.

Compliance & Audit: Ensure adherence to local tax laws and legal obligations; organize documentation for internal/external audits; manage month-end/year-end closing processes.
2. Grant Budgeting & Compliance (30%)

Monitoring: Develop grant-specific budgets and monitor expenditures to prevent overspending.

Field Oversight: Conduct occasional field visits to monitor financial procedures at project sites.

Procurement: Assist the Finance Manager with bid/tender verification and maintain the annual Project Procurement Plan.

Closeout: Facilitate the financial closeout of projects, ensuring all donor requirements are met.
3. Team Support (5%)

Provide general assistance to team members and guide staff/partners on financial reporting and documentation requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Tax. CPA qualification is a significant advantage.

Experience: Minimum 3 years in accounting, grant management, or finance. Previous experience with an INGO is preferred.
Technical & Soft Skills
-
Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and financial accounting software.

Competencies: High level of integrity, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.

Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse global staff, banks, auditors, and government stakeholders.
