SOS Children’s Villages International is a worldwide child care organization that works to protect and care for children who have lost parental care or who are at risk of losing it. Established 64 years ago, the organization currently operates Children’s Villages and related projects in 135 countries.

The organization runs two major global programmes:

  • Family-Like Care Programme – based at SOS Children’s Villages.
  • Family Strengthening and Community Programmes – supporting families within local communities.

SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania has been operating in the United Republic of Tanzania since 1991, with programmes in:

  • Zanzibar
  • Arusha
  • Dar es Salaam

1. Fundraising Coordinator (Re-advertised)

Duty Station: Zanzibar
Reports To: Deputy National Director

Job Summary

The Fundraising Coordinator supports the implementation of SOS Children’s Villages Zanzibar’s fundraising, donor engagement, sponsorship, and communication activities.

Working under the technical guidance of the Head of Fund Development, the role focuses on:

  • Coordinating daily fundraising operations
  • Supporting proposal development
  • Managing donor and sponsor relations
  • Supporting public relations activities
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and reporting

The role contributes to sustaining and expanding local and external funding while promoting the organization’s brand and mission.


Key Responsibilities

1. Fundraising Strategy and Planning

  • Support implementation of the national fundraising strategy.
  • Lead development of annual and multi-year fundraising plans for Zanzibar.
  • Identify and coordinate corporate fundraising campaigns, workplace giving, and employee engagement activities.
  • Monitor fundraising performance against targets and indicators.

2. Fundraising Operations

  • Coordinate day-to-day fundraising activities.
  • Assist with development and monitoring of fundraising budgets, plans, and financial forecasts.
  • Conduct donor research and maintain relationships with corporate and local partners.
  • Prepare proposals, updates, and event reports, including contributions to the One Friend Objective (OFO) initiative.
  • Maintain fundraising records and databases.

3. Grant and Proposal Development

  • Monitor donor calls and funding opportunities at national and regional levels.
  • Ensure proposals comply with donor guidelines and SOS policies.
  • Support preparation of concept notes, full proposals, and supporting documents.
  • Coordinate proposal submission and tracking of outcomes.

4. Public Relations and Communications

  • Support PR and communication activities aligned with SOS brand values.
  • Assist in organizing public events, donor visits, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Contribute to communication materials such as:
    • Newsletters
    • Reports
    • Articles
    • Brochures
    • Success stories

5. Donor and Sponsor Relations

  • Support communication with local and international sponsors.
  • Maintain positive relationships through timely updates and engagement.
  • Assist finance teams in recording donations and in-kind contributions.

6. Compliance and Accountability

  • Track fundraising costs and ensure cost-efficiency compliance.
  • Uphold transparency, accountability, and ethical fundraising practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • MBA preferred in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional fundraising or development experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with donor databases is an advantage.
  • Understanding of budgets and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to motivate and coordinate volunteers.
  • Commitment to fundraising ethics and professional standards.

2. ICT Officer

Duty Station: Zanzibar
Reports To: Deputy National Director

Job Summary

The ICT Officer ensures reliable, secure, and efficient ICT systems that support SOS Children’s Villages programmes.

The role includes:

  • Managing ICT systems and networks
  • Maintaining hardware and software
  • Providing technical support to staff
  • Strengthening digital learning and data systems

The officer helps ensure that technology enhances programme delivery, youth empowerment, and community engagement.


Key Responsibilities

1. ICT Strategy and Innovation

  • Support the Head of ICT in planning and implementing ICT strategies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements.

2. System Administration

  • Manage and maintain computer systems, hardware, software, and network equipment.
  • Troubleshoot ICT issues to ensure smooth operations.

3. Network and Connectivity

  • Assist with LAN and internet management to maintain reliable connectivity.

4. Data Security and Backup

  • Implement data backup, recovery, and security procedures.
  • Protect organizational and programme data.

5. Technical Support

  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for staff.
  • Deliver ICT training sessions for users.
  • Maintain user support documentation and procedures.

6. ICT in Programme Implementation

  • Integrate ICT solutions into programme monitoring, reporting, and data management.
  • Support digital learning and youth empowerment initiatives.

7. ICT Asset Management

  • Maintain records of ICT hardware, software, and equipment.
  • Support procurement, distribution, and disposal of ICT assets.

8. Compliance and Security

  • Enforce ICT security policies and best practices.
  • Monitor adherence to data protection standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant ICT experience.
  • Experience supporting users and systems in large organizations.
  • Strong skills in:
    • Hardware and software maintenance
    • Network management
    • Systems administration
    • Website and software development
  • Knowledge of IT cybersecurity principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
