GGML is located in the Lake Victoria Goldfields of Northwestern Tanzania, approximately 120 km from Mwanza City and 20 km southeast of Lake Victoria. The mine’s main office and operations are based in Geita, about 5 km west of Geita Town, with a supporting office in Dar es Salaam.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To provide technical specialist support in generating and developing a robust pipeline of exploration targets through systematic ranking and consolidation. The role focuses on streamlining the execution of exploration work programs in line with the GGM Exploration Strategy and E4V Guidelines.
The role holder is also responsible for continuously improving confidence in exploration targets to enable rapid conversion into Mineral Resources and Reserves, thereby sustaining the Life of Mine (LOM).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Geology, Advanced Diploma in Geology, or higher qualification
- Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence for light vehicles
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in:
- Mineral exploration
- Open pit mining
- Underground mining
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of:
- Exploration business processes
- Exploration budgeting
- Mining cycle
- Proficiency in:
- ArcGIS
- Datamine
- Leapfrog
- Strong competence in Microsoft Office Suite
- Solid skills in:
- Geological data analysis
- Geological interpretation
- 3D geological modelling
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Comply with, review, and implement HSE procedures and checklists
- Identify hazards, assess risks, and propose corrective actions before task execution
- Report all incidents, injuries, and illnesses promptly and participate in investigations
- Review and refine exploration process maps highlighting hazards and risks
- Assess and address HSE training needs of subordinates
Technical & Exploration Responsibilities
- Design exploration work plans and support integration into exploration strategies
- Develop, rank, and prioritize exploration targets based on geological evidence and confidence levels
- Conduct detailed geological data interpretation, including assay results
- Refine geological models to support resource estimation
- Continuously review exploration methodologies to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency
- Ensure effective quality control and quality assurance processes
Leadership & Operational Effectiveness
- Provide technical leadership to build and sustain a competent exploration team
- Manage people and material resources efficiently
- Identify and implement technical training and development initiatives
- Drive implementation of systems and processes to deliver exploration projects aligned with the Business Plan
- Conduct Personal Effectiveness Appraisals for subordinates
- Prepare accurate technical reports, maps, sections, and presentations
- Maintain positive working relationships with contractors and surrounding communities in line with company values and ethical standards
