Job Vacancy: Graduate Mine Surveyor
About the Job
Matongo Gold Mine Limited (MGM) is seeking to recruit a Graduate Mine Surveyor to join its dedicated team in the Mara Region, Tanzania.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, the Graduate Mine Surveyor will support underground mine surveying activities while developing technical skills and industry knowledge. This role focuses on assisting senior surveyors, learning advanced surveying techniques, and gaining hands-on experience in underground mine operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior surveyors in conducting underground survey measurements and mapping.
- Learn and apply standard surveying procedures (SOPs).
- Support the establishment and maintenance of underground survey control points.
- Assist in conducting field surveys using total stations, GPS devices, and other surveying tools.
- Support mine plan updates and 3D model creation using software such as Surpac, Deswik, and AutoCAD.
- Observe and assist with end-of-month (EOM) surveys and production reconciliation.
- Gain exposure to ventilation surveys and underground safety compliance.
- Support ore body tracking and learn resource calculation techniques.
- Assist in drill hole mark-ups and pickups for diamond drilling, RC drilling, and exploration drilling.
- Learn proper equipment maintenance and calibration procedures.
- Participate in safety initiatives and emergency route planning.
- Work closely with engineers and geologists to understand mining operations and excavation designs.
- Develop knowledge of statutory mining regulations and survey reporting requirements.
Requirements (Skills and Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Surveying, Geomatics, or Geodetic Sciences.
- Strong interest in surveying principles, techniques, and equipment operation.
- Basic proficiency in surveying software such as Surpac, Deswik, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or other data processing tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting survey data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to challenging underground environments while strictly adhering to safety protocols.
