Job Opportunity: Head of Procurement

CNS Group is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Procurement to lead and manage the full procurement function within the Construction sector.

Role Summary

The Head of Procurement is responsible for sourcing strategy, supplier management, contract negotiations, cost optimization, and ensuring the timely availability of materials, equipment, and services to support project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Sourcing: Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company objectives; lead sourcing, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiations.

  • Project Management: Manage procurement planning for construction materials, plant, equipment, and subcontracted services.

  • Financial Control: Oversee tendering processes, bid evaluations, and ensure cost control, budget compliance, and value optimization.

  • Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong local and international supplier and subcontractor relationships.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with Tanzanian procurement regulations and internal company policies.

  • Logistics: Oversee importation processes and logistics coordination where applicable.

  • Leadership: Lead and mentor the procurement team to enhance performance and provide strategic insights to senior management.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Certifications: CPSP, CIPS, or professional certification preferred.

  • Experience: * 8–10 years of progressive procurement experience.

    • 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.

    • Proven experience in construction procurement (materials, heavy equipment, and subcontracting).

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.

  • Competencies: High integrity, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage large budgets under pressure.
