Position Overview

The Barrick North Mara Team is seeking to recruit a Foreman – Instrumentation (Paste Plant) to join and grow within our team.

This role is responsible for leading and managing instrumentation activities within the Paste Plant, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations while aligning with Barrick’s high-performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide effective leadership and establish robust maintenance systems for the Paste Plant instrumentation section
Develop team capability and succession plans
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for instrumentation systems
Implement and manage risk management systems
Ensure safety of personnel and equipment at all times
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Select and implement optimal instrumentation technologies and systems
Supervise, manage, and control instrumentation activities within the Paste Plant
Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, environmental, and operational procedures
Manage maintenance and infrastructure to support uninterrupted mine operations
Support achievement of production targets through effective section management
Plan and execute maintenance schedules within required timelines
Monitor and achieve performance targets (safety, reliability, availability, cost)
Execute maintenance department tactical projects
Contribute to budgeting processes and KPI tracking
Ensure implementation of critical controls for high-risk activities
Promote zero incidents and ensure immediate reporting of any safety issues
Complete required Safety Leadership Interactions (SLIs) monthly

Qualification Requirements

Industrial Instrumentation Trade Test Certificate
Diploma in Electronics and Electrical Engineering
Diploma in Instrumentation or Industrial Automation (added advantage)

Experience & Competencies

Minimum 5 years’ experience in Instrumentation or Process Control
Proven experience with Citect SCADA systems
Knowledge of underground mining operations
Strong understanding of industrial electrical wiring and drawing interpretation
Experience handling radioactive nuclides safely
Ability to read and interpret:
- Instrumentation loop diagrams
- P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
Valid driver’s license
Strong time management and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities
Experience using PRONTO system
