Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and Barrick health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures
  • Report all HSE incidents and issues promptly
  • Conduct daily inspection and maintenance of paste plant equipment
  • Complete work orders in line with established procedures and standards
  • Maintain plant operations according to company policies and SOPs
  • Adhere to isolation and lockout procedures
  • Ensure availability of instrumentation components (pressure, temperature, valves, flow meters, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot paste plant control and engineering problems
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and apply 5S principles
  • Monitor plant systems, flows, feed processes, and water quality
  • Inspect, test, adjust, and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments
  • Record calibrations, parts used, and inventory levels
  • Perform troubleshooting for PLC, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Conduct proper shift handovers
  • Identify and act on plant performance deviations
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned projects
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness in line with engineering standards

Qualification Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in:
    • Electronics and Electrical Engineering
    • Instrumentation
    • Industrial Automation
  • Instrumentation Trade Test Certification

Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum 2 years post-trade test experience
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems diagnostics
  • Basic experience with:
    • Allen Bradley PLCs
    • Siemens PLCs
  • Industrial instrumentation fault-finding skills
  • Understanding of Ethernet networks (wired and wireless)
  • Knowledge of process control systems, VSDs, and soft starters
  • Familiarity with equipment safety standards
  • Experience in underground industrial environments (advantageous)

Additional Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal in English)
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license
  • Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
  • Strong technical planning and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • High level of professionalism and teamwork
