Background and Purpose of the Assignment

WFP Tanzania, through its Country Strategic Plan (CSP 2022–2027), supports the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to deliver equitable and inclusive economic growth through investments in human capital, resilient livelihoods, and nutritious diets.

In line with the CSP objectives, the WFP Tanzania Country Office in Dar es Salaam seeks to recruit an Intern for an eight-month assignment to provide project management and coordination support to the Nutrition, HIV, and School-Based Programmes Team under the Programme Unit.

The Intern will work under the supervision of the National Nutrition Officer and the overall supervision of the Head of Nutrition, HIV and School-Based Programmes.


Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day project management and coordination support to Nutrition, HIV, School-Based Programmes, and food systems in compliance with WFP standards and procedures.
  • Support the development of communication and knowledge products, including infographics and short videos, for advocacy, resource mobilisation, and information sharing.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project briefs, concept notes, proposals, and tracking of project data, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Support preparation of accurate and timely reports, briefing notes, presentations, and programme documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and dissemination of lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
  • Support partnership management activities, including coordination and administrative tasks.
  • Enhance knowledge management by maintaining and updating the team repository using innovative tools.
  • Liaise with Programme staff and other units to support procurement, logistics, workshops, meetings, and missions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Deliverables at the End of the Contract

  • Effective project management and coordination support provided to the Nutrition and School Feeding Team.
  • High-quality communication materials and knowledge products developed.
  • Timely and accurate reports and programme documentation produced.
  • Improved knowledge management systems with an up-to-date team repository.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s programme, or
  • Recent graduate (Undergraduate or Postgraduate) within six months prior to application, having attended classes in the last 12 months.

Preferred fields of study include Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Development Studies, International Development, Social Sciences, or other relevant disciplines.

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months to 2 years of relevant experience in project management, coordination, or related fields.
  • Experience working with Government, NGOs, CSOs, Academia, or United Nations agencies is an added advantage.
  • Experience in developing communication materials, conducting research, and writing proposals and reports is an added advantage.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of project management and knowledge management principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex, multicultural environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable.
  • Innovative and able to apply creative thinking.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in both English and Swahili.
