JOB VACANCY – INVENTORY CONTROL MANAGER (BAND VIII)

Role Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to oversee and ensure the integrity of all inventory control processes, systems, and routines nationwide. This includes finished goods, raw materials, returnable empties, consumables, and spare parts. The role ensures that all inventory-related activities are accurately captured in the ERP system and fully compliant with company policies, standards, and governance requirements.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Inventory Governance & Compliance
- Monitor adherence to inventory-related roles and responsibilities across all operational teams.
- Drive accountability by ensuring all inventory routines are properly documented, signed off, and executed.
- Escalate non-compliance, control breaches, or recurring issues to relevant managers for resolution.
- Audit compliance with inventory management routines, including stock reconciliations, physical counts, stock loss investigations, MBFU & BITs management, recharge processes, bottle loss, RTI, Time-in-Trade management, and aging POs/GRNs.
- Track execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all sites and flag deviations.
- Ensure alignment with inventory governance policies and recommend corrective actions where gaps exist.
Risk Management & Process Improvement
- Support operational teams in identifying and mitigating inventory-related risks.
- Monitor adherence to Minimum Internal Controls (MICs) across all inventory processes.
- Identify trends in non-compliance, inefficiencies, or losses and recommend sustainable process improvements.
- Leverage excellence programs (e.g. LCP, VPO, DPO) to embed best practices and strengthen inventory control outcomes.
Systems, Data Integrity & Reporting
- Monitor ERP system (e.g. Syspro) data integrity to ensure all inventory movements are accurately captured and reconciled.
- Review and validate inventory-related reports submitted by operational teams.
- Analyse stock variances and investigate root causes in collaboration with site teams.
- Track usage of stock management tools (e.g. handheld devices, variance reports) to ensure correct application.
- Generate dashboards and management reports highlighting compliance trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Training & Capability Building
- Coordinate and track training on inventory policies, SOPs, and control routines.
- Ensure training records are maintained and refresher sessions conducted where gaps are identified.
- Promote ownership and accountability for inventory management across operational and functional teams.
Performance & KPI Management
- Support KPI management with a focus on inventory-related cost drivers, including Supply Chain Overheads (SCOH).
- Drive consistent execution and ownership of inventory processes across all sites.
Key Attributes and Competencies
- Strong experience in finished goods and/or raw materials management.
- End-to-end Supply Chain expertise.
- Strong financial and cost management knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively at senior leadership (MANCOM) and global levels.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across internal and external customers.
- Proven people management and influencing skills.
- Excellent presentation and written communication abilities.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to solve complex problems independently.
- Results-driven with a strong work ethic and record of high performance.
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with consistent follow-through.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Econometrics, Finance, Supply Chain, Economics, IT, Accounting, or Bachelor of Commerce.
- MBA or postgraduate qualification is recommended.
- 3–5 years’ experience in logistics, supply chain management, with a strong finance background.
