Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving, storing, assembling, packing and/or unpacking of goods, ensuring items are undamaged and fully accounted for.
  • Liaising with relevant trades regarding items required for the completion of tasks.
  • Ensuring all purchase orders reflect where materials are to be utilized and are approved by the relevant Supervisor.
  • Issuing tools and ensuring cleanliness of the workshop and surrounding areas.
  • Ensuring practices are followed to keep the site free of hazards.
  • Monitoring current stock levels, deciding when reordering is necessary, and organizing inventory for easy and safe accessibility.
  • Assisting with and performing stock checks.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of stock, including maintaining adequate security systems and enforcing Health and Safety rules, while keeping the store clean and tidy.
  • Listening, understanding, and following work instructions from the Supervisor.
  • Ensuring the safe loading and unloading of materials onto vehicles and assisting colleagues in this task where necessary.

Qualification Requirements

  • Ordinary secondary school education.
  • A relevant Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a Technician Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired.
  • Practical skills in maintenance practices and engineering knowledge.
  • Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness.

Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role involving stores, driving, and yard responsibilities, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance systems (e.g. SAP) is essential.
  • Experience in the mining industry is essential.
  • Valid light vehicle manual-class driving license.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this role.
  • Ability to consistently manage a diversified portfolio in a high-pressure environment.
  • Performance-oriented, strongly motivated, with a high work standard and strong work ethic.
  • Committed, engaged, and enthusiastic about embodying Barrick’s company DNA.
