Manager; Finance Reconciliation (1 Position)

Job Location: Head Office

Job Purpose

To manage reconciliation activities for product general ledgers by ensuring comprehensive reviews of customer assets, liabilities, and treasury accounts are conducted to guarantee accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

The role focuses on continuously improving reconciliation processes, minimizing discrepancies, and maintaining financial integrity through timely and precise reporting.


Main Responsibilities

1. Reconciliation Oversight & Control

  • Oversee the reconciliation framework and control environment for product general ledgers to ensure robustness, financial integrity, and precise financial reporting.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of product general ledgers, including:
    • Customer assets and liabilities
    • Treasury product accounts
      Ensure no variation between Trial Balance ledger balances and customer listings (total of subledger balances).
  • Closely monitor product general ledgers to ensure accounts are restricted from manual posting and promptly report and resolve any anomalies.

2. Loans & Interest Reviews

  • Conduct monthly reviews of non-accrued interest from loans and overdrafts.
  • Track trends to identify anomalies arising from loan activities, including customer account upgrades and downgrades.
  • Perform analytical and trend reviews for deferred income from loans, ensuring:
    • Profit and Loss movements align accurately with the Balance Sheet.
    • Proper financial reporting is maintained.

3. Expected Credit Loss (ECL) & Impairment

  • Perform monthly reconciliation of Expected Credit Loss (ECL) impairment provisions recorded in the general ledger against movements reported by the ECL module.
  • Ensure full alignment for both:
    • Balance Sheet accounts
    • Profit or Loss accounts
  • Maintain zero discrepancies.

4. Deposits & Liabilities Monitoring

  • Conduct monthly reviews of:
    • Customer deposits/liabilities
    • Accrued interest
  • Monitor unclaimed deposits to ensure balances accurately reflect customer listings.

5. Collaboration & Advisory

  • Work closely with Credit MI, ICT, and Business Relationship Managers to:
    • Proactively raise significant reconciliation matters.
    • Ensure issues are reported.
    • Establish clear resolution plans.
  • Participate in product development initiatives by providing expert advisory on finance reconciliation requirements to ensure proper controls and reporting mechanisms are in place before product launch.
  • Collaborate with Business Finance & Analytics to perform revenue assurance checks, preventing revenue leakages and safeguarding the Bank’s profitability.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Accounting
    • Business Administration
    • Economics
    • Finance
    • Related field
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (CPA or ACCA) – Mandatory.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Finance Operations.

Added Advantage

  • Master’s degree in Business Studies.
  • Postgraduate education in Banking and/or Banking certifications.
  • Experience in:
    • Business Finance
    • Analytics
    • Regulatory Reporting
