Position: Manager – Trading

Job Purpose

The Manager – Trading will be responsible for overseeing the Bank’s trading function in alignment with global market objectives. The role focuses on driving profitability, managing market and counterparty risk, and supervising trading activities across foreign exchange, fixed income, interest rates, and other financial instruments.

Key Responsibilities

Trading Operations

• Execute trading activities to generate sustainable profits.
• Manage FX, forwards, swaps, equities, and related instruments.
• Provide competitive pricing to interbank markets.

Strategy & Market Analysis

• Analyze macroeconomic trends, political developments, and technical indicators.
• Develop and implement effective trading strategies aligned with market conditions.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Ensure all trading activities comply with approved market risk, credit risk, and counterparty limits.
• Maintain a strong risk management and compliance culture within the trading function.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, regulators, and market participants.
• Work closely with sales teams to support client-driven trading opportunities.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop the trading team to promote integrity, accountability, and high performance.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Finance.
• A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.

Professional Certifications

• ACI Dealing Certificate (mandatory).
• CISI Securities qualification is an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant professional experience with a demonstrated track record in global markets and interbank relationship management.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of trading techniques and financial instruments.
• Sound understanding of risk management principles.
• Ability to assess the impact of political and economic developments on exchange rates and interest rates.
