This position is based in the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC), Dar es Salaam.


🎯 Position Summary

The Migration Health Physician will oversee and support medical operations at the MHAC, ensuring compliance with international migration health standards and resettlement country requirements.

The role reports directly to the Chief of Mission (COM) and works closely with the Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO).


🩺 Key Responsibilities

1. Health Assessment Operations

  • Manage daily operations of the MHAC
  • Conduct migration health assessments including:
    • Medical examinations
    • Imaging services
    • Laboratory testing
    • Vaccinations
    • TB management
    • Treatment and referrals
    • Pre-departure medical procedures
    • Certification and documentation

2. Patient Care & Clinical Management

  • Ensure proper identification and documentation of patients
  • Manage TB and sexually transmitted infection treatment
  • Support HIV counselling activities
  • Oversee immunization and preventive treatment programs
  • Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and protocols

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Implement and monitor IOM Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Conduct quality control activities (audits, assessments, reviews)
  • Ensure patient safety and infection prevention standards
  • Manage incident reporting systems
  • Develop MHAC-specific SOPs where needed

4. Data Management & Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and manage migration health data
  • Ensure accurate entry into MiMOSA and related systems
  • Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports for management
  • Ensure data quality and integrity

5. Financial & Resource Oversight

  • Support budgeting and financial monitoring of MHAC operations
  • Review financial reports and suggest cost-effective solutions
  • Coordinate procurement of medical supplies, vaccines, and equipment

6. Leadership & Coordination

  • Supervise and support MHAC staff in service delivery
  • Assist in training and mentoring medical staff
  • Coordinate with CMHO and other units for smooth operations
  • Provide technical guidance in clinical decision-making

🎓 Required Qualifications

Education

  • Degree in Medicine (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution
  • Valid license to practice medicine in Tanzania (mandatory)

💼 Required Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of clinical experience
  • Recent clinical practice within the last 3 years preferred
  • Experience in hospital or multidisciplinary clinical settings
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Clinical medicine
    • Patient safety
    • Infection prevention and control

🔹 Advantageous Experience
