Shanta Gold is looking for qualified individuals to join the team at the Singida Gold Mine.

Role Details

• Location: Singida Gold Mine

• Work Schedule: 6 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off

• Contract Type: Open-Ended

• Reports To: Chief Mine Geologist

🔍 Role Overview

The Mine Geologist supports effective mining operations by supervising and coordinating all grade control activities. This includes managing ore movement to the ROM Pad to ensure accurate classification, compliant dumping, and effective mine feed blending. You will work closely with mining, processing, and geology teams to support safe and efficient gold production.

Key Responsibilities

🛠 Planning & Execution

• Work Allocation: Implement plans issued by the Chief Mine Geologist and allocate tasks to Ore Control Spotters and Grade Control Drilling Technicians.

• Communication: Effectively communicate shift plans to mining and processing teams.

• Readiness: Ensure ore control personnel are equipped and grade control drilling remains at least two shifts ahead of mining.

• Data Management: Validate and submit ore spotter tally data to Modular Dispatch and Ore Accounting teams.

• Geological Controls: Track ore perimeters (loss/dilution), conduct pit and underground geological mapping, and prepare QA/QC reports.

🧩 Operational Support & Coordination

• Technical Support: Provide logistical and technical support to geology and drilling teams.

• Production Liaison: Work with Pit and Underground Production Supervisors to ensure correct ore/waste classification and mining sequences.

• Team Leadership: Monitor contractor drilling performance and provide on-the-job coaching to junior team members.

📊 Grade Control & Reconciliation

• Stockpile Management: Monitor ROM stockpiling and blending to prevent material misdirection.

• Target Accuracy: Control dilution to ensure grade reconciliation remains within ±5% of planned targets.

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ relevant mining geology experience (Gold mine experience preferred).

• Licensing: Valid Tanzanian Driving License.

• Technical Knowledge: Exposure to mining operations in geology or geotechnical functions and a basic understanding of geological/mining software.

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
