Role Overview

The Mine Surveyor will be a crucial support member of the survey team, dedicated to delivering accurate, timely, and reliable survey services across all mining operations. The primary responsibilities include setting out mine designs, conducting as-built and stockpile surveys, maintaining control networks, and ensuring data integrity for all planning, construction, reconciliation, and reporting functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Implementation: Set out approved mine designs on the ground within required accuracy tolerances.

• Volume & Reconciliation: Conduct mine and stockpile as-built surveys for volume calculations and reconciliation reporting.

• Construction Support: Execute or supervise field set-outs for construction and civil works, including performing measurements for earthworks and signing off contractor physicals.

• Data Management: Download, process, and organize survey field data in a timely manner.

• Instrumentation: Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and careful handling of all survey instruments. Conduct daily GPS/Total Station checks at known stations.

• Control Network: Assist in establishing and densifying the survey control network.

• Specialized Surveys:

  • Perform slope stability monitoring and deliver accurate data to Geotechnical Engineering.

  • Support aerial photography or LiDAR projects by marking and measuring control points.

  • Participate in land compensation survey activities when required.

• Compliance: Comply strictly with survey SOPs, safety requirements, and relevant codes of practice.

• Teamwork: Attend daily planning/line-up meetings and support training, development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We’re Looking For (Minimum Requirements)

• Education: Degree in Geodetic Engineering, Mine Surveying, Engineering Survey, or equivalent.

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in mining or civil engineering projects.

• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of survey instruments, techniques, and software.

• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office and mine design/planning software packages.

• Core Competencies: Excellent communication, reporting, organizational, data management, and problem-solving abilities.

• Licence: Valid light vehicle driving licence.
