Position: Relationship Officer – SMEs & Retail Banking
Purpose of the Role
The Relationship Officer is responsible for managing, growing, and retaining a portfolio of SME and Retail Banking clients. The role focuses on building strong client relationships, increasing product penetration, managing credit risk, and achieving assigned business growth targets while delivering excellent customer service.
Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities
Client Portfolio Management
- Develop and manage a portfolio of SME and Retail Banking clients.
- Grow deposits, loans, and uptake of other banking products and services.
Client Acquisition and Retention
- Identify new business opportunities and onboard new clients.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing customers.
Revenue Generation
- Drive revenue growth through effective cross-selling and upselling of banking products.
- Achieve and exceed assigned business targets and KPIs.
Credit and Risk Management
- Assess creditworthiness of clients in line with bank policies and procedures.
- Monitor portfolio quality and ensure minimal levels of non-performing assets (NPA).
Customer Service Excellence
- Provide timely and professional responses to client inquiries.
- Resolve client issues promptly to ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention.
Business Development and Reporting
- Collaborate with the sales team to generate leads and implement business development strategies.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on portfolio performance, sales achievements, and corrective actions.
Compliance and Controls
- Ensure full compliance with internal policies, banking regulations, KYC, and AML requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and client records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Banking & Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in SME or Retail Banking, Relationship Management, or a similar role.
- Proven track record in client acquisition, portfolio growth, and relationship management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Strong ability to assess client financial needs and recommend suitable banking solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and complaint-resolution skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Results-oriented with a proactive and customer-centric mindset.
