Revenue Manager
Location: Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel
Position Summary
A Hotel Revenue Manager is responsible for maximizing a hotel’s revenue and profitability through strategic pricing, inventory management, and market analysis.
This role involves:
- Analyzing market trends
- Forecasting demand
- Managing distribution channels
- Implementing pricing strategies
The goal is to ensure optimal occupancy and average daily rate (ADR).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Balance the financial objectives of all properties to maximize total revenue.
- Oversee all processes associated with demand, revenue, inventory, forecasting, and opportunity analysis.
- Implement revenue management operations, procedures, and best practices with guidance from the Regional Revenue Manager.
- Identify new revenue opportunities and share them with the hotel commercial team.
- Challenge and influence the hotel to improve service levels and operational standards.
- Oversee revenue management and distribution strategy of the hotel and manage day-to-day yield operations.
- Conduct daily pick-up analysis, strategy adjustments, and reporting.
- Perform competitive benchmark studies and follow market trends using available systems and tools.
- Provide a weekly dynamic forecast of expected results, variances, and budget comparisons.
- Assess, analyze, and price group business strategies.
- Analyze overall monthly hotel performance and provide summary reports with recommendations for long-term strategies.
- Ensure all related systems are configured correctly, validated, and working to full capacity.
- Ensure the website booking process is maintained up-to-date and functional.
- Regularly check input and quality of data (segmentation, denials tracking, etc.).
- Conduct quarterly property performance reviews and develop strategic and tactical actions.
- Ensure best practice standards including:
- Competitor analysis
- Environmental scanning
- Market modelling
- Distribution yield management
- Business mix yield management
- Length of stay yield management
- Inventory availability by channel
- Pricing control and new pricing concepts
- Evaluate the performance of distribution partners and contracted rates (OTA, FIT, tour operators, corporate, consortia, crew, groups).
- Conduct periodic audits of supplier contracts and service level agreements.
- Ensure available technology is utilized to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in revenue office operations.
- Provide regular feedback and updates to the unit management team on departmental performance.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Economics, Statistics, or any other Social Science field.
- Professional certification in Revenue Management will be an added advantage.
Experience Required
- At least 5 years of work experience in a similar position in a 5-star international property.
