We are looking for enthusiastic and committed professionals to join our growing team in the role of Risk and Compliance Manager, supporting effective risk management and internal governance across the bank.
Purpose of the Role
The Risk and Compliance Manager ensures that all activities within MHB comply with regulatory requirements, the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, and internal policies. The role strengthens internal processes, mitigates operational and regulatory risks, and maintains smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Risk and Compliance Management
- Conduct internal reviews and audits, providing recommendations on control weaknesses and risk exposures.
- Assist in implementing the risk and compliance program by analyzing, summarizing, and presenting data to stakeholders.
- Produce timely and accurate monthly and ad hoc reports for HOD and Management.
- Implement regular monitoring and evaluation programs to ensure risk governance and policy compliance.
- Identify key risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations while balancing commercial realities.
- Lead, develop, and motivate the Risk and Compliance team.
- Keep senior management informed of regulatory and legislative changes and their impact on the Bank.
- Provide proactive regulatory advice, training, and support to staff to build risk awareness.
- Maintain documentation of compliance activities and investigate issues where necessary.
- Design and implement improvements in compliance monitoring, communication, and enforcement.
- Review or modify policies to comply with changing regulations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Participate in new product or business development, major change processes, and complex trade reviews by performing risk assessments.
- Provide input on valuation and risk measurement models for various trading products (e.g., Value at Risk).
Key Competencies and Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance, Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in risk or compliance is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in risk and compliance or internal auditing within the banking sector.
- Broad knowledge of banking products and associated risks.
- Familiarity with current and evolving regulatory requirements.
Knowledge and Skills
- Deep understanding of banking standards, regulations, internal controls, and products.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
- Excellent reporting and record-keeping abilities.
- Business acumen with strong risk assessment capabilities.
- Methodical, analytical, and diligent with excellent planning and follow-up skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
