JOB VACANCY: RISK OFFICER

Reporting To: Risk & Compliance Manager

II. Role Purpose

The Risk Officer is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and reporting risks across the entire mortgage loan lifecycle. The role ensures that the organization operates within its risk appetite while maintaining full compliance with internal policies and BoT (Bank of Tanzania) regulatory requirements.

III. Key Responsibilities

Risk Management & Monitoring

• Policy Implementation: Support the execution and monitoring of the company’s risk management frameworks and policies.

• Risk Identification: Proactively identify, assess, and monitor key risks across various departments.

• Documentation: Maintain and update comprehensive risk registers and internal control reports.

• Tracking: Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and ensure timely escalation of issues to management.

Compliance & Oversight

• Regulatory Reviews: Support the department during regulatory reviews and internal/external audits.

• Internal Controls: Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and suggest improvements to mitigate potential losses.

• Mortgage Lifecycle Oversight: Specifically monitor risks related to the mortgage lending process, from application to recovery.

IV. Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Actuarial Science.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in risk or compliance within the financial sector (Banking or Microfinance preferred).

Competencies

• Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis.

• Integrity: High level of professional integrity and ethical conduct.

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to identifying discrepancies and potential hazards.
