Job Objective
The Economic Security Desk (ESD) Officer is responsible for coordinating and executing economic security operations within the organization.
The role involves monitoring, tracking, and investigating suspected fraud cases, while working closely with departments such as Security, Debt Collection, and Legal to ensure timely resolution.
The ESD Officer will also support the Head of ESD (East Africa) in implementing country-specific initiatives, analyzing case trends, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to minimize risks and protect the organization’s financial and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fraud and Risk Management
- Lead fraud investigations and prepare detailed investigation reports with recommendations.
- Conduct security risk assessments and internal audits to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.
- Perform background checks to ensure integrity in recruitment and operational processes.
- Train employees on fraud awareness and detection of suspicious activities.
2. Security Operations
- Monitor and manage access control systems, visitor management systems, and entry points.
- Respond promptly to security incidents and threats and ensure effective resolution.
- Implement and oversee security measures to protect premises, assets, and personnel.
- Provide support to the Debt Collection team in complex recovery cases.
3. Team Leadership and Performance Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise security officers.
- Assign duties and monitor performance to maintain discipline and professionalism.
- Conduct performance appraisals to ensure a high-performing security team.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with external security service providers to ensure quality and reliability of services.
- Liaise with relevant security agencies and authorities for compliance, collaboration, and operational support.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Security Management, Criminology, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, investigative, and organizational skills.
- Experience in disciplined forces (e.g., Police) with strong fraud and investigation expertise will be an added advantage.
- Experience working in a financial institution or knowledge of banking and financial fraud/crimes is an advantage.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work in the field across different regions.
- Strong problem-solving ability and proactive information sharing.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
- High level of loyalty, integrity, and professionalism.
