Senior Manager – Sales & Commercial
Job Function
The Senior Manager will be responsible for achieving and exceeding all budgeted sales goals (Blusky) while operating within the approved selling expense budget. The role focuses on maintaining and growing the existing 4PL accounts portfolio through successful contract renewals and the commercial management of scope change opportunities within current client engagements.
The role ensures the smooth execution of all key sales activities, including industry and vertical analysis, lead generation and qualification, bidding, contract negotiation and closure, account planning, sales forecasting, pricing review, and opportunity management. The Senior Manager will proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks in the sales process, maintain sales process documentation, support onboarding of new sales team members, and provide data-driven insights to Capability Leadership.
Key Performance Areas
- Lead and facilitate sales processes including account planning, forecasting, and opportunity management
- Track and analyze key sales metrics such as pipeline growth, win/loss ratios, renewals, and quote attainment
- Capture and qualify leads from internal and external sources in collaboration with Capability Business Development Executives/Directors and the Central Business Development team
- Design and implement initiatives to improve sales performance
- Monitor sales performance alongside individual performance and allocate recognition points where applicable
- Enable solution-selling across DP World’s capabilities by embedding the voice of the customer into product and service development
- Act as the Sales Capability point of contact for escalations, resolving key client issues and complaints
- Participate actively in strategy sessions, providing continuous insights into customer needs and pain points to shape industry opportunities and intuitive client journeys
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Logistics, or Engineering
- Postgraduate Diploma
- Master’s Degree or MBA (preferred)
Experience and Skills Required
- 8–10 years of proven success in Sales and Commercial roles
- Strong business development experience, including responding to RFQs, deal structuring, and contract closure
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing Go-to-Market strategies to drive revenue and market share growth
- Logistics industry experience across multiple countries within Sub-Saharan Africa
