About the Location

The lodge is located in the heart of Serengeti National Park, one of the world’s most famous wildlife reserves where the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhinoceros) roam freely.

Perched on elevated platforms overlooking a natural watering hole, the lodge offers guests the opportunity to observe wildlife such as elephants visiting for water.

The lodge opened in December 2012 and is located approximately 45 minutes from Seronera Airstrip, accessible by connecting flights from major airports in Tanzania.


Position Summary

The Senior Security Officer is responsible for ensuring safety and security within the lodge. The role is mainly control-room based and involves monitoring security systems, coordinating security operations, responding to emergencies, and maintaining detailed security records.

The officer must maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with hotel policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.


Key Responsibilities

Security Monitoring and Control Room Operations

  • Operate CCTV systems and security communication equipment.
  • Respond to fire alarms, emergency calls, and guest requests.
  • Maintain accurate security reports and logs.
  • Monitor security systems to identify and prevent incidents.

Incident Prevention and Coordination

  • Coordinate with patrolling officers to prevent unsafe incidents.
  • Conduct regular radio checks to ensure alertness of security staff.
  • Send emergency notifications and follow up on reported incidents.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Document all communications and security incidents.
  • Complete and file reports related to theft, loss, damage, patrol findings, and electronic security logs.
  • Inform the department head about any unusual incidents requiring immediate action.

Lost and Found Management

  • Secure and record lost property items.
  • Maintain logs to assist in identifying and returning items to their rightful owners.

Emergency Response

  • Act as a member of the hotel emergency response team.
  • Be familiar with fire response, evacuation procedures, and fire panel operations.
  • Provide first aid assistance to guests or staff when required and arrange follow-up medical care.

Key and Access Control

  • Monitor and control the issuing of hotel master keys and mechanical keys.
  • Conduct daily key audits at 11:00 PM.
  • Report any missing or unreturned keys immediately.

Staff and Guest Support

  • Escort guests between the lobby and guest rooms when necessary.
  • Monitor the staff entrance and conduct baggage checks for staff and contractors.
  • Coordinate delivery and pickup of guest baggage.
  • Open or repair in-room safes and doors when required.

Patrols and Safety Inspections

  • Conduct routine patrols when not assigned to the CCTV room.
  • Ensure compliance with security, health, safety, and fire regulations.

Staff Housing and Operational Support

  • Open staff housing when necessary and conduct housing checks with the P&C Department.
  • Assist departments across the lodge as part of the Crunch Team when required.

Additional Duties

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information handled.
  • Provide on-the-job training for other security employees on control room operations.
  • Demonstrate alertness and ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Report to work on time and notify supervisors if unable to attend work according to company policies.
  • May be required to travel or temporarily relocate to Arusha logistics center or another Four Seasons property within the country.

Special Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic security training from a recognized security institute or company.

Experience

  • Minimum six months experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in hospitality or security services is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to operate computers and MS Office applications.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to operational requirements.
