Talent Manager
Position Overview
As the Talent Manager, you will act as a talent alchemist, bringing together the right people to support the growth and success of early-stage ventures. You are a skilled professional in human resources and talent management, preferably with experience in talent acquisition, community building, or ecosystem development.
Your core mission is simple but ambitious:
Support the best founders with the best people.
In this role, you will strengthen founding teams by connecting them with mentors, technical experts, advisors, service providers, and future team members. You will build, curate, and activate a high-quality network of talent and experts that directly contributes to venture success.
Key Responsibilities
1. Founder Recruitment & Selection
- Manage the full recruitment and selection process to identify high-potential founders for each venture cohort.
- Support candidate assessment, interviews, and selection processes aligned with the company’s venture-building criteria.
2. Expert, Mentor & Advisor Network
- Grow and manage the company’s Tanzania-based community of mentors, experts, and advisors.
- Build partnerships with venture-building support organizations and individuals across Tanzania and the broader region.
- Vet, onboard, and support mentors and experts to ensure high-quality engagement and support for founders.
3. Founder–Expert Matching
- Assess the needs of founders and ventures at different stages of the venture studio process.
- Lead the process of matching founders with relevant mentors, experts, and service providers.
- Track, monitor, and facilitate mentor engagement and collaboration.
4. Alumni & Community Management
- Manage and activate the company’s alumni network as:
- Food-system changemakers
- Collaborators
- Potential hires
- Strategic partners
- Service providers.
5. Team Formation & Co-Founder Matching
- Support co-founder matching and team formation during the Entrepreneur-in-Residence programme and early venture stages.
- Help founders identify and recruit complementary team members.
6. Internal Talent Support
- Support human resources and talent management for the Rootical Tanzania studio team.
- Assist in:
- Recruitment
- Onboarding
- Staff retention initiatives.
7. Reporting & Accountability
- Contribute to project monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes.
- Ensure accountability in talent engagement activities and community programs.
8. General Studio Support
- Contribute beyond your specific job responsibilities when needed.
- Support a small entrepreneurial team delivering ambitious and time-bound venture-building programs.
Education & Work Experience
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Talent Management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Born and raised in East Africa, with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in the region.
- Experience in HR, talent management, recruitment, or ecosystem development is strongly preferred.
