Position Overview

The SBCC Coordinator will lead grassroots communication and awareness initiatives to support landscape restoration projects across Tanzania.

The role involves:

• Developing and implementing rural communication strategies
• Strengthening community engagement
• Enhancing visibility of restoration impact

The position works closely with local teams, partners, and global stakeholders to scale the regreening movement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Social and Behaviour Change Communication & Visibility

• Develop grassroots communication plans for all landscapes (projects)
• Coordinate with Landscape Coordinators and Managers on communication activities
• Identify and implement effective rural communication approaches
• Support filming and media production activities
• Ensure effective internal communication across teams
• Align strategies with SBCC experts
• Execute communication initiatives such as:
  • Community roadshows
  • SMS campaigns
  • Radio programs

2. Digital Communication & Regreening Support

• Manage budgets for rural communication activities
• Conduct field visits to gather insights and improve strategies
• Contribute to internal and external reporting
• Collaborate with the Scaling team on digital regreening initiatives

3. Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

• Manage relationships with funders and implementation partners
• Collaborate with media and project partners
• Identify and onboard new media partners
• Promote awareness of project impact among stakeholders

---

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
  • Communication
  • Journalism
  • Environmental Communication
  • Development Studies
  • Sustainable Land Management
  • Forestry
  • Agriculture
  • Related field
• 3–4 years of relevant experience, particularly in:
  • Landscape restoration
  • Social and Behaviour Change Communication
• Strong interest in:
  • Sustainability
  • Environmental conservation
  • Agricultural development
• Proven stakeholder management skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
• Experience in planning and executing rural communication strategies
• Ability to work independently and proactively
• Strong:
  • Problem-solving
  • Coordination
  • Project management skills
• Fluency in:
  • English
  • Kiswahili
