Role Purpose
CCBA Tanzania is seeking a Syrup Maker to join the Manufacturing team in Dar es Salaam. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate the syrup-making plant to produce syrup according to MMI standards and work instructions, conduct quality checks (destructive and non-destructive), and carry out autonomous maintenance activities. The role has a strong focus on quality control and process compliance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Syrup Preparation
- Prepare syrup batches in line with Coca-Cola product formulas and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure accurate measurement and mixing of ingredients and concentrates.
- Validate the quality and conformity of raw materials before use.
2. Process Compliance & Quality
- Conduct in-process quality checks and immediately report deviations.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, hygiene, and food safety standards.
- Record batch information accurately to ensure full traceability.
3. Equipment Operation & Cleaning
- Safely operate syrup tanks, mixers, pumps, and filtration systems.
- Perform CIP (Clean-in-Place) and equipment cleaning according to schedules and SOPs.
- Maintain clean and orderly syrup rooms and workstations.
4. Stock & Material Handling
- Receive and verify raw materials against batch requirements.
- Monitor ingredient stock levels and report shortages to the Team Leader.
- Correctly label and store materials to prevent contamination or spoilage.
5. Health & Safety
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols, including PPE use and chemical handling procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents promptly.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Percentage of Right-First-Time (RFT) syrup batches
- Compliance with syrup preparation schedules
- Accuracy of batch and cleaning documentation (%)
- CIP and sanitation schedule adherence (%)
- Syrup-related product quality non-conformances
- Ingredient and concentrate waste/spoilage rate
- Safety compliance and incident rate
Skills, Experience & Education
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Food Science & Technology, or a related field
- Preferred: Certificate or Diploma in Food Technology, Chemical Processing, or related field
Experience
- 2–3 years’ experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment
- Experience in syrup preparation, liquid mixing, or formulation is an advantage
- Exposure to food safety, GMP, and hygiene standards
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of ingredient handling, mixing, and batch preparation
- Understanding of beverage processing and quality control principles
- Ability to operate syrup production equipment and perform basic troubleshooting
- Knowledge of CIP, sanitation processes, and chemical safety
- Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping
- Basic computer literacy for batch logs and reporting
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Awareness of Coca-Cola KORE standards and HACCP principles (advantage)
