JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring effective availability of information systems to support Bank’s business and operations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring compliance with ACB Code of Ethics and Conduct, including adherence to Client Protection Principles and customer service standards.

  • Work on the operation and maintenance of the Bank’s internal computer networks, Linux, UNIX and Windows servers and related infrastructure in the Data Centre.

  • Work with the Data Centre Administrator in the design, set up and configuration of Data Centre infrastructure inclusive of operating systems, application systems, storage systems, security and power systems and related hardware.

  • Assess capacity utilization on servers and communication links using specialised tools.

  • Implement and manage backup strategy for online and offline data.

  • Perform server and security audits.

  • Participate in the deployment of hardware capacity expansions and rearrangements.

  • Implement industry best practices as it relates to server standards, process improvements, configurations and support processes.

  • Maintain and document configuration changes of all system components, including application software, web servers, database servers, patch level, and operating systems.

  • Provide day to day support of a server farm, network hardware, and associated system software and applications (O/S, backup/recovery, anti-virus, security, etc).

  • Incident Analysis, problem resolution and follow-up.

  • Working with the Data Centre Administrator on user management, capacity management, contingency planning, IT service continuity management, automation of repetitive tasks, and IT security.

  • Manage security solutions including: firewalls, anti-virus system and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

  • Apply continuous improvements, including preventive maintenance, techniques to ensure network and security infrastructure maintains maximum performance, security, availability and monitoring the assets’ life cycle.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Bank’s Disaster Recovery Plan.

  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports for decision making.

  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

  • Provide up to third level support for production environment in a 24×7 environment.

  • Participate in on-call/standby rotation as required based on business demands.

  • Performing other related duties as may be directed or assigned.


THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications

  • University Degree in IT/Computer Science or related.

  • 3 – 5 years relevant experience in an advanced system administrator role including UNIX, Linux and Windows Server environments.

  • Detailed knowledge of Open Source firewalls and networking.

  • Broad knowledge of TCP/IP networking and key protocols (DNS, SSL, FTP, HTTP, POP, SMTP, PXE, IPSEC, OpenSSL, SSH) and the servers that enable them.

  • Knowledge of SNMP-based network management tools and traffic analysis tools.

  • 2-4 years script writing experience (shell scripting, bash, python, or Perl) is an asset.

  • Sound IT knowledge and strong hardware/system software knowledge.

  • Ability to read/write technical documents, maintain accurate records, and analyze problems.

  • System tuning knowledge, capacity concepts, benchmarking, trending, and monitoring.

  • Expertise in server maintenance, automation, and administration skills.

  • Strong knowledge in Web, Network, and Storage technologies.
