🏛️ About the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA)

The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) is the regulatory body responsible for overseeing the orderly development of civil aviation in Tanzania. Established under Section 35 of the TCAA Act, Chapter 80 (R.E 2023), the Authority’s mandate covers air transport, aeronautical services, air navigation, and related operations.

TCAA ensures safety, efficiency, and sustainability across Tanzania’s aviation industry while promoting innovation and international compliance.

To strengthen its governance and leadership, the Minister for Transport, through the Permanent Secretary, is inviting qualified Tanzanians to apply for two (2) positions on the TCAA Board of Directors.

🎯 Functions of the TCAA Board

Appointed Board Members will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction and performance of the Authority. In accordance with Section 33 of the TCAA Act, their key responsibilities include:

• Defining and overseeing the Authority’s strategic objectives and values.
• Reviewing management performance standards and institutional effectiveness.
• Ensuring the Authority has the resources and systems required to achieve its goals.
• Promoting public awareness of the Authority’s functions and obligations.
• Setting priorities and performance targets for the Authority’s operations.
• Supporting initiatives for the development of civil aviation in Tanzania.
• Advising the Minister for Transport on policy frameworks and aviation development strategies.
• Performing other duties as directed by the Minister, in line with the TCAA Act.
• Approving and monitoring the Authority’s annual budget.

🧑‍💼 Key Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the Board Member positions must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a degree from a recognized university.
• Have at least 10 years of professional experience in one or more of the following fields:
  • Management
  • Law
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Engineering
• Possess knowledge of the aviation industry.
• Demonstrate no potential conflict of interest, as per Section 37 of the TCAA Act.
• Be willing and able to serve effectively as a Board Member.
• Show commitment to competence, integrity, and accountability in fulfilling Board duties.
