Objective of the Role
To support mining operations by delivering reliable and safe carpentry services, ensuring infrastructure is maintained to high standards, minimizing downtime, and contributing to a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carpentry & Construction Work
- Perform carpentry tasks including construction, repairs, and installations
- Construct and install:
- Wooden structures
- Formwork
- Support frameworks
Infrastructure Maintenance
- Maintain site facilities and wooden structures
- Assist in building temporary and permanent infrastructure
- Support maintenance teams with structural work
Materials & Tools Management
- Select and prepare appropriate materials and tools
- Ensure efficient use of materials to minimize waste
- Assist in tracking and reporting material requirements
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Follow all operational procedures and guidelines
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)
- VETA qualification (Grade I) or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Carpentry
Licensing
- Valid Tanzanian Driving License (Class B & D)
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
- Mining industry
- Infrastructure maintenance environments
Technical Expertise
- Experience in:
- Building maintenance
- Carpentry fabrication
- Doors, windows, partitions
- Ceilings, roofing, and flooring
- Furniture and interior fittings
- Drywall and industrial carpentry work
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and construction methods
- Familiarity with materials such as timber, boards, and fasteners
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings
- Knowledge of tools operation and maintenance
- Understanding of structural integrity and load support principles
