Tender Pricing Specialist

Job Summary

The Tender Pricing Specialist is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and profitable pricing for bids, tenders, and proposals. The role involves detailed cost estimation, financial modelling, and risk assessment, while collaborating with technical, procurement, finance, and business development teams to ensure commercially viable submissions that maximize win rates while protecting company margins.


Key Responsibilities

1. Tender & Bid Preparation

  • Review tender documents including RFPs, RFQs, BOQs, specifications, and contracts.
  • Prepare detailed pricing schedules, cost sheets, and financial proposals.
  • Ensure all submissions comply with client requirements and procurement guidelines.
  • Submit accurate and timely pricing proposals within specified deadlines.

2. Cost Estimation & Pricing Analysis

  • Estimate costs for materials, labor, equipment, logistics, and subcontractors.
  • Develop pricing models and margin calculations.
  • Prepare project budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Analyze historical pricing data to improve estimation accuracy.

3. Financial & Commercial Evaluation

  • Conduct profitability and break-even analyses.
  • Assess financial and operational risks and apply appropriate contingencies.
  • Recommend competitive pricing strategies aligned with market conditions.
  • Support client negotiations and tender clarification processes.

4. Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with finance, procurement, technical, and sales teams.
  • Maintain tender databases and documentation.
  • Prepare management reports, cost analyses, and bid summaries.
  • Track estimated vs. actual project costs to improve future pricing accuracy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Procurement, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in tender pricing, cost estimation, or commercial analysis.
  • Experience preparing government or private sector tenders is an added advantage.
