Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML), Tanzania’s leading gold producer and a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to fill the position of Tradesperson 1 – High Voltage (HV) Electrical.
GGML operates in the Lake Victoria Gold Fields of Northwestern Tanzania, approximately 120 km from Mwanza City. The company’s operations are based in Geita, with a supporting office in Dar es Salaam.

🎯 Purpose of the Role
To manage and execute underground electrical maintenance activities effectively, including:
- Electrical systems and infrastructure at underground operations.
- Power generation, overhead power lines, and ventilation systems.
- Water facilities, camp facilities, and external water sources.
🧰 Qualifications
- Form Four Certificate with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One / Level Three in Industrial Electrical.
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage.
- Must hold a valid Tanzanian driving license.
🧠 Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a High Voltage Electrician in underground operations.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair underground HV systems, cable runs, fan installations, drill rigs, and underground pumps.
- Experience working with Jumbo Sandvik equipment will be an added advantage.
⚙️ Additional Requirements
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
- Skilled in electrical wiring, installation, fault finding, and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on mining equipment and systems.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on Jumbos, pumps, and other underground equipment.
- Assemble, install, and test electrical and electronic systems.
- Estimate time and costs for maintenance tasks and projects.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and company standards.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Participate in planned maintenance scheduling and reporting.
- Carry out high-voltage tasks as required by management.
