JOB DESCRIPTION – TRANSPORT / FLEET OPERATIONS (KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES)
- Manage company transport and fleet assets to minimize operational costs while maximizing equipment utilization.
- Supervise staff and monitor operations at key workstations, ensuring workloads are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Work with senior management to determine the strategic direction of the Transport Department.
- Update, implement, and enforce Divisional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate, inspect, and ensure completeness of all transport documentation, including driver and vehicle licenses.
- Review, analyze, and report fleet and logistics performance against approved plans.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Regulatory Agencies to ensure smooth fleet operations.
- Implement transportation strategies that optimize fleet performance, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
- Supervise the implementation and sustainability of safety protocols and procedures, including accident and incident investigations.
- Ensure proper execution of Journey Management Plans (JMP) for all trips by:
- Conducting daily and weekly Safety Toolbox Talks and Stand-Downs for drivers
- Performing safety inspections
- Reviewing driver logs
- Ensuring compliance with Checkpoint Routines
- Analyze operational data and make data-driven decisions to optimize fleet performance, including route optimization and fuel management.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as Logistics, Sales, and Customer Service to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance to Fleet Managers and Transportation Staff.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
