Position Overview
As a Travel Planner – Tanzania Safaris, you will be the first point of contact for our clients and the face of Arusha Trips.
You will engage with travelers, understand their needs, and design personalized safari itineraries. From the first inquiry to final booking, you will guide clients through the entire journey planning process while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Sales
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries via email, phone, and video calls
- Conduct one-on-one consultations to understand clients’ preferences, interests, and budgets
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on safari destinations and travel experiences
- Guide clients through the planning process until booking confirmation
Travel Planning & Itinerary Design
- Design customized safari itineraries tailored to each client
- Prepare detailed day-by-day travel proposals, including pricing and logistics
- Calculate trip costs considering accommodation, park fees, activities, transport, and flights
- Adjust itineraries based on client feedback
Destination Expertise
- Provide insights on:
- National parks and wildlife
- Kilimanjaro climbing routes
- Beach destinations and islands
- Local culture, seasons, and travel logistics
- Key events such as the Great Migration
Coordination & Operations
- Coordinate with lodges, transport providers, and local partners
- Ensure smooth execution of client travel plans
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and bookings
Content & Business Development
- Contribute to website content (SEO writing, travel blogs, itinerary descriptions)
- Participate in developing new travel products and itineraries
- Support business growth strategies and process improvements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Hospitality, or related field (preferred)
- Experience in travel planning, safari tourism, or customer service is highly desirable
- Fluent in English and Dutch (additional languages such as French or Spanish are an advantage)
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong sales and customer service orientation
- Good numerical and Excel/Google Sheets skills
- Knowledge of Tanzania’s tourism landscape (or willingness to learn)
- Basic knowledge of SEO and WordPress is an added advantage
