Role Focus: Installation, maintenance, and strategic planning of electrical systems within the underground mining environment to ensure safe and cost-effective operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will manage the surface and underground electrical reticulation network and perform the following:

Technical & Maintenance

• Fault find, repair, and test AC/DC variable speed drives, variable frequency drives, and soft starters
• Conduct earth fault calculations and ensure HV and MV protection relays are correctly set
• Install and test electrical wiring and circuits up to 1,000V AC and 1,500V DC
• Diagnose and maintain electronic controlling systems on mobile plants
• Perform high-reliability soldering and electrical/electronic measurements

Planning & Management

• Calculate, plan, and execute life-of-mine (LOM) electrical supply and demand
• Manage critical spares to prevent production loss
• Supervise contractors, evaluate technical bids, and manage project budgets
• Compile reports on power consumption and supply for management

Safety & Compliance

• Perform statutory compliance inspections, audits, and tests
• Ensure all activities align with Zero Harm policies and environmental protection standards

REQUIREMENTS

Academic & Technical Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent post-trade qualifications

Advantageous:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and SAP Plant Maintenance software

Experience

Essential:

• Minimum of 5 years in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in high voltage engineering design or execution
• Knowledge of electrical control systems (SCADA, PLC)
• Experience in designing power distribution systems (Transformers, MDBs, and MCCs)

Highly Valued:

• Previous experience in the Mining Industry
• Experience as an African Expatriate
